About The Position
Westlands Water District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Equipment Mechanic to join our team! In this role under the supervision of the Senior Automotive and Warehouse Coordinator, performs repair, and maintenance on automotive vehicles; construction-type, mobile, earth-moving, and load-lifting equipment; and various heavy-duty, portable, and stationary engines. Equipment Mechanic is a skilled level classification.
Requirements
- Possess a United States’ high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and five (5) years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic supplemented by specialized training in maintenance and repair.
- Incumbents must possess and maintain a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the District’s automobile insurance.
- Must obtain a California Class A Driver’s License with air brake endorsement and an automotive air conditioning certificate for service and repair, or obtain both within twelve (12) months of appointment.
Nice To Haves
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or other similar certifications highly desired.
Responsibilities
- Performs predictive and preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, service, and repair of engines, transmissions, differentials, steering systems, brakes, automotive vehicles, construction-type, mobile, earth-moving, and load-lifting equipment, and heavy-duty portable and stationary engines.
