About The Position

The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of heavy equipment, mobile equipment, and mechanical systems used in industrial, construction, manufacturing, and plant operations. This position performs preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation while minimizing downtime.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and equipment drawings.
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, drive systems, and mechanical power transmission.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments and diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, call-outs, and outage schedules as required.
  • Ability to work safely in industrial, construction, and outdoor environments.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, mobile equipment, or industrial machinery.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to pass site-specific safety requirements and pre-employment screenings.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school or vocational training in diesel technology, heavy equipment repair, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and mechanical troubleshooting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities including lubrication, fluid changes, filter replacement, and equipment inspections.
  • Repair and replace components such as engines, transmissions, pumps, motors, cylinders, bearings, belts, hoses, valves, and gearboxes.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, schematics, and manufacturer specifications to identify equipment issues.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment components to manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication activities as required to support repairs.
  • Inspect equipment for safety, operational readiness, and compliance with company standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inspection reports.
  • Operate forklifts, cranes, manlifts, and other equipment as authorized.
  • Assist in equipment commissioning, startup, and operational testing.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance shops and work areas.
  • Communicate equipment deficiencies and repair recommendations to supervisors and operations personnel.
  • Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
