Maintains and repairs heavy and light mechanical equipment, parts and components. This position performs minor overhauls, front-end alignments, and minor vehicle component repairs and maintenance. The role also involves rebuilding minor vehicle components, using diagnostic equipment and manuals to diagnose vehicles, and repairing electrical and air conditioning systems. Additionally, the Equipment Mechanic II performs State of Texas vehicle inspections, diagnoses and repairs electrical systems on vehicular equipment, and prepares new vehicles and equipment for service. The job requires tracking repair times, materials, and records in the FASTER fleet management system, performing road tests for safe operation, and maintaining equipment and shop tools. Housekeeping duties are also part of the role, and technicians must furnish their own hand tools.
