About The Position

When a Machine Goes Down, You're the One They Call. Downtime costs our customers money - and it's our field service techs who get them running again. Tejas Equipment Rentals is hiring a full-time Equipment Mechanic II / Field Service Technician based out of our San Benito branch. You'll split your time between the shop and customer job sites, diagnosing and repairing construction equipment wherever the work is. We're a family-owned, Texas-based company, and when you show up to a job site in a Tejas truck, you ARE Tejas to that customer. Requirements

Strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in construction equipment
Sharp attention to detail for diagnosing and solving complex mechanical issues in the field, often without a full shop around you
Ability to work independently on job sites and as part of a team back at the branch
Clear, professional communication with customers and coworkers - you're the face of Tejas in the field
A proactive, safety-first mindset on every site
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Must pass a drug test and have a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience maintaining and repairing construction equipment is a plus - but if you're motivated and eager to learn, we're willing to train the right person and grow you into the role.

Responsibilities

Inspect and perform routine maintenance on a wide range of construction equipment
Roll out to customer job sites to diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems, and make repairs on the spot
Get downed machines back up safely and efficiently so customers keep their projects on schedule
Prioritize the day's calls and shop work with your branch team
Keep accurate maintenance and service records so nothing slips through the cracks
Follow safety protocols in the shop and on every job site
