About The Position

The Equipment Mechanic Foreman is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient work practices within their craft. This role involves identifying and correcting unsafe conditions, evaluating and improving job methods, and instructing journeymen on specific tasks, including safety procedures. The Foreman must be knowledgeable about other craft disciplines to coordinate work effectively and prevent jurisdictional conflicts. They are expected to read and interpret blueprints, understand job specifications, implement project procedures, and inspect finished work for quality. A key aspect of this role is understanding the project scope, priorities, and schedules, ensuring work is completed on time, and proactively identifying and addressing potential problems or deviations from standards. The Foreman must also be familiar with cost control procedures, stay within budget, and ensure accurate reporting of time sheets, backcharges, quantities, and work status.

Requirements

  • 6 years of industrial construction experience.
  • 2 years in a Supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of other craft disciplines for work coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Understanding of job specifications.
  • Familiarity with project cost control procedures.
  • Commitment to staying within established cost goals and unit rate standards.
  • Ability to ensure accurate reports are submitted.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and correct unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Check and improve existing job/task methods and procedures.
  • Provide on-the-spot corrective action for safety and quality issues.
  • Instruct journeymen in specific craft tasks, including safety procedures.
  • Coordinate work between crafts and prevent jurisdictional conflicts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and job specifications.
  • Implement Bechtel job procedures and work rules.
  • Inspect finished work for quality and completeness.
  • Understand work scope, priorities, and schedules.
  • Complete planned work on schedule.
  • Identify potential problems in a timely manner.
  • Take remedial action for work not meeting standards.
  • Adhere to project cost control procedures and stay within budget.
  • Ensure accurate submission of reports (time sheets, backcharges, quantity, work status).
