About The Position

The Equipment Maintenance Tech II position at GAC Van Nuys is for a hands-on technician with strong electrical and mechanical skills. This role is crucial for maintaining critical aircraft production equipment at peak performance. The technician will diagnose, repair, and maintain complex systems supporting aircraft manufacturing, performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, as well as upgrades on electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. The goal is to deliver high-quality repairs, ensure equipment operates within specifications, and partner with operations to resolve recurring issues and improve overall equipment performance. Experience with aircraft ground support equipment (GSE) is highly preferred.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
3 years of experience working with electrical controls and mechanical applications in a manufacturing environment.
Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Ability to work independently under general supervision.
Ability to work any shift.
Must be able to read electrical schematics and blue prints.
Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines as needed.
Must have demonstrated working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and controls aspects of factory automation systems and the integration of devices used.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

A 2-year technical degree may offset one year of experience.
Experience with aircraft ground support equipment is a strong plus.
Experience performing maintenance and repairs on aircraft ground support equipment is preferred.
Background in CNC Equipment and GSE Equipment a plus.
Working knowledge of replacing spindles, ball screws, linear guide ways, bearings, hydraulics repairs, and precision machine/laser alignments is a plus.
A working knowledge of PC based Microsoft office.
Experience with computerized maintenance management software relevant to spare parts management, work order creation, and Preventive Maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical malfunctions on production equipment.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
Conduct corrective maintenance and upgrades on electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Deliver high-quality repairs that keep equipment operating within required specifications.
Partner with operations to resolve recurring issues and improve equipment performance.
Diagnoses cause of electrical and mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and apply corrective action to resolve re-occurring issues.
Proactively conducts Preventive and Predictive Maintenance inspections and performs required duties in accordance with recommended schedules.
Performs repairs and corrective maintenance to equipment with a high degree of quality and reliability so that the equipment is capable of operating within the required specifications.
Performs setup and calibrations on scheduled intervals for all aircraft related production equipment.
Daily input of required data in CMMS system for machine reliability and control.
Interfaces daily with key Management and Production personnel regarding all aircraft related production equipment.
Assists with Engineering acceptance testing and training.
Perform other duties as assigned.
