About The Position

Terminal Investment Limited (TIL) is a leading global investor, developer, and operator of container terminals. This role is for the Sparrows Point Container Terminal (SPCT), a joint venture between TIL and Tradepoint Atlantic, located in Baltimore, Maryland. The SPCT will be a new container terminal, significantly increasing the Port of Baltimore's capacity. The project is currently in the design and permitting stage, with construction expected to begin in Q3 2025. The Equipment & Maintenance Director will be responsible for cargo handling equipment deployment, commissioning, testing, and start-up, including IT and integration aspects. The role ensures compliance with TiL equipment specifications and procurement processes. The position may transition to a permanent role as Equipment M&R Manager after the Go-Live milestone.

Requirements

Knowledge of equipment technology, terminology, various equipment types, and repair techniques, conforming to TiL and local standards.
Experience in the implementation of equipment and/or IT systems in large-scale projects.
Experience in the management of part, material, and supply inventories.
Experience with purchasing, cost accounting, and preparation of reports and documentation.
Minimum of seven or more years of related experience.
Ability to manage and perform purchasing function for mid-to-large size organizations.
Track record of ensuring high level of equipment performance and reliability.
Good communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
Thorough knowledge of inventory control.
Demonstrated ability to train and motivate people to achieve objectives.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure.
Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent managerial skills, including planning, organizing, and directing work.
A degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.
Ability to climb up and down a ladder on a crane multiple times within a shift.
Ability to work in changing hot and cold climates.
Ability to work in a hazardous environment with fast-moving equipment.
Ability to drive a vehicle up to 50% of working hours.
Ability to lift 30 pounds.
Ability to use a computer/keyboard.
Must apply for and obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker’s Identification Credential) card.

Responsibilities

Oversee delivery and commissioning of new equipment.
Ensure proper IT integration of equipment systems with TOS and other operational technologies.
Ensure procurement and installation of operational technology components.
Ensure procurement of critical spare parts for corrective and preventative maintenance.
Establish or implement parts storage and inventory tracking system consistent with TiL best practices.
Establish performance criteria and KPIs for M&R team (MTTF, MTBF, MTTR, etc.).
Oversee the recruitment of mechanical and electrical maintenance engineering teams.
Establish a culture rooted in continuous improvement (Lean Kaizen, 6Sigma).
Mentor Go-Live team to establish budgets, preventative maintenance schedules, procurement policies, and repair task order logs.
Provide direction to maintenance contractors and/or in-house maintenance technicians.
Work closely with other business managers for equipment maintenance and energy budgets.
Set priorities for maintenance of equipment and approve expenditures within budget.
Build and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance schedules with detailed work instructions.
Maintain inventory to ensure minimized levels while ensuring availability of necessary spare parts.
Proactively undertake maintenance planning for corrective work.
Improve and modify equipment design to enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, or life cycle cost.
