About The Position

This equipment engineering internship provides a unique opportunity to be part of a large, global organization that designs technology powering the world. The role involves supporting equipment engineering projects in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing facility, focusing on equipment and component optimization, experimental execution, data analysis, and failure mode detection. This internship is designed to build Microchip's talent pipeline to meet current and future organizational needs.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a four-year engineering program such as mechanical, electrical, or other similarly oriented program.
• Business maturity, creativity, and the ability to influence and deliver high quality results.
• Exceptional analytical skills, excellent judgment, high-quality orientation, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to learn and develop expertise in new software applications specific to Microchip manufacturing, automation, and control systems.
• Must be able to work in a clean room environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with prior hardware projects in engineering courses.
• Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication and processing areas at submicron dimensions, specifically ion implantation.

Responsibilities

• Work with an equipment engineer or technician on projects to meet production and quality goals.
• Source and evaluate mechanical components for functionality, repair, refurbishment, or modification to improve performance or component life.
• Gather and analyze component lifetime data.
• Understand failure mechanisms and determine predictors to prevent unplanned downtime.
• Assist with Supply Chain management.
• Develop procedures or specifications to improve equipment reliability.
• Work with minimal oversight and make meaningful progress independently on projects.
