About The Position

The Equipment Engineering Role in ECHO Fab involves a broad range of responsibilities focused on maintaining and improving high-volume manufacturing equipment. This includes ensuring equipment knowledge and understanding, adhering to safety and compliance standards, utilizing problem-solving systems, conducting root cause analysis, and managing key equipment metrics. The role requires a systems-thinking approach to Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), disciplined escalation, and proficiency in areas like Fault Detection and Classification (FDC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)/Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) analysis. Familiarity with tool acceptance, automation, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), standard work, and 5S principles is also important. The position demands a results-oriented mindset with a strong KPI focus, excellent communication and influencing skills, vendor management capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively. A bias for action with rigor, adaptability, a learning mindset, and the ability to manage ambiguity are crucial. Foundational knowledge in material science is also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical discipline is required, preferably mechanical or industrial engineering or similar.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: Photo, Metrology or Plating tools.
  • Manufacturing experience (semiconductor preferred) in process or equipment engineering over a variety of toolsets.
  • Ability to interact professionally with manufacturing and process engineering to effectively understand problems and efficiently resolve them.
  • Ability to generate, analyze, and interpret equipment performance data and produce a timely action plan to resolve recurring equipment failures.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills with ability to present complex datasets and equipment problems/solutions to diverse audiences.
  • Competent in troubleshooting problems and capable of applying logic to identify and technical skills to understand actions needed to implement/verify the repair.
  • Ability to deal with multiple issues and shifting priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidate will be called upon to train others and write clear procedures.
  • Self-motivated; able to take initiative and effectively prioritize work for self.
  • Participating in and/or leading cross-functional teams fostering collaboration to achieve a specific goal.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Export Control Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for multiple processes and tool ownership in a high-volume manufacturing facility.
  • Identify and reduce sources of variation, implementing zero defect processes, reducing defectivity.
  • Define tool qualification/PM procedures.
  • Improve tool utilization and availability.
  • Reduce cycle time.
  • Identify and qualify new tools.
  • Support development or transfer activities.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts.
  • Manage critical part inventory.
  • Direct supplier activities.
  • Respond to SPC/FDC excursions.
  • Write specifications.
  • Train maintenance technicians.
  • Formulate and execute plans for continuous improvements.
  • Implement hardware/software upgrades.
  • Develop preventative actions to SPC/FDC excursions.
  • Increase tool capabilities/throughput/availability.
  • Determine new sourcing for parts/service/toolsets.
  • Oversee installation/qualification of new equipment/components.
