TSMC, the global leader in semiconductor foundry technology, is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic Implant Equipment Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team at TSMC WA. You will work alongside industry experts, receive hands-on training, and contribute directly to the production of cutting-edge semiconductor technology. As an Implant Equipment Engineer, you will undergo rigorous training to assist in optimizing the performance, reliability, and efficiency of advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Your primary focus will be supporting ion implantation equipment—including AMAT xR/Quantum High-Current Implanters, VIISion80 High-Current Implanter Systems, and high-vacuum systems—within the Implant process area. This exempt position requires a strong commitment to operational excellence, including flexibility for demanding work schedules and immediate responsiveness via company-provided communication tools. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 0–2 years of experience.
  • Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) principles.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • A solid foundational background in Electronic, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering principles.
  • All applicants must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Candidates must successfully pass a background check and a drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is a plus, but not required.
  • Prior internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing or semiconductor environment is highly preferred but not required.
  • Exposure to or basic understanding of High Vacuum systems (turbo, cryo pumps) or ion implantation systems (such as AMAT xR/Quantum or VIISion80) is a strong plus.
  • Fast learner with a strong desire to develop technical expertise.
  • Excellent team player with strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated tenacity, adaptability, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) and real-time monitoring methods to track and analyze equipment performance.
  • Collaboratively plan, coordinate, and perform preventative maintenance on advanced tooling alongside our skilled technician team.
  • Support the development and implementation of engineering projects aimed at improving tool reliability, availability, and cost efficiency.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues to reduce scrap, lower costs, and continuously improve product yield and quality.
  • Support and maintain the spare parts inventory to ensure minimal tool downtime.
  • Maintain high self-motivation to investigate equipment abnormalities, initiate corrective actions, and prevent future occurrences.
