About The Position

We are looking for an Equipment Assembler in Piscataway, NJ! This role contributes to building and assembling diverse standard and customized gas handling equipment. You will help ensure products are assembled and tested to published product requirements to meet customer orders. You will operate production facilities in alignment with applicable Spec Gases policies, safe operating procedures (SOP), drawings, quality, safety, and documented requirements. You will monitor equipment performance and support minor/routine adjustments, maintenance, and repairs to equipment. You will partner effectively and efficiently with the team to achieve shared operational goals, and transparently share insights and issue findings with all team members to foster proactive solutions. You will sustain and contribute to the overall quality of equipment produced, and work and communicate with Customer Service/Tech Support to foster timely solutions together for unique builds or specials. You will contribute ideas for continuous improvement across processes and workflows, and help maintain inventory at optimal levels through clear communication with management and cross-functional teams regarding substitutions and production items. You will be actively involved in the return and repair area to support smooth, timely repair and return of items. You will bring a strong ability to follow safety guidelines and proactively identify potential safety concerns. You may be asked to assist in the warehouse with various shipping and stocking responsibilities as team needs arise. You will be an active, engaged participant in Airgas Safety program policies, culture, and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with hand tools in a clean work environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read product specifications, as well as assembly drawings and assemble products per those drawings.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • This position requires the ability to assemble components into finished assemblies requiring 150 ft pounds of torque.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to perform common tasks such as e-mail communication, read/write data to spreadsheets, generate quality certifications from standard forms, enter data from various documents to shared databases.
