About The Position

Airgas is hiring an Equipment Assembler in Piscataway, NJ. This role contributes to building and assembling diverse standard and customized gas handling equipment. The assembler will help ensure products are assembled and tested to published product requirements to meet customer orders. They will operate production facilities in alignment with applicable Spec Gases policies, safe operating procedures (SOP), drawings, quality, safety, and documented requirements. The position involves monitoring equipment performance and supporting minor/routine adjustments, maintenance, and repairs. The assembler will partner effectively with the team to achieve shared operational goals, transparently share insights and issue findings, and contribute to the overall quality of equipment produced. Collaboration with Customer Service/Tech Support is expected for unique builds or specials. The role also involves contributing ideas for continuous improvement, helping maintain inventory levels, and actively participating in the return and repair area. A strong ability to follow safety guidelines and proactively identify potential safety concerns is crucial. Associates may also be asked to assist in the warehouse with shipping and stocking responsibilities. The role requires active participation in the Airgas Safety program policies, culture, and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with hand tools in a clean work environment.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to read product specifications, as well as assembly drawings and assemble products per those drawings.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Ability to assemble components into finished assemblies requiring 150 ft pounds of torque.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
Basic computer skills and ability to perform common tasks such as e-mail communication, read/write data to spreadsheets, generate quality certifications from standard forms, enter data from various documents to shared databases.

Actively involved in the return and repair area to support smooth, timely repair and return of items
Brings a strong ability to follow safety guidelines and proactively identify potential safety concerns
Welcomed to assist in the warehouse with various shipping and stocking responsibilities as team needs arise
Active, engaged participant in Airgas Safety program policies, culture, and procedures
