About The Position

The Outside Maintenance Technician maintains the exterior of farm facilities and supports the safe, efficient operation of equipment and site infrastructure. The role performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, groundskeeping, pest control activities, and general site upkeep. It involves operating farm and maintenance equipment, following biosecurity and safety standards, and assisting with projects that support daily farm operations.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to follow established procedures and safety requirements.
• Comfort working around livestock, machinery, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, humid, and outdoor environments.
• Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Experience operating tractors, skid steers, forklifts, and other heavy equipment.
• Previous maintenance, agricultural, industrial, or equipment repair experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on farm equipment and facility systems.
• Operate tractors, skid steers, payloaders, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery.
• Maintain and repair conveyors, motors, augers, feed bins, belts, chains, sensors, generators, and related equipment.
• Complete grounds maintenance, including snow removal, feed spill cleanup, weed control, and general site upkeep.
• Remove garbage, manure, and mortalities as assigned.
• Support pest control by maintaining bait stations and monitoring for rodent, fly, and animal activity.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate maintenance and supply needs.
• Complete maintenance records and preventive maintenance checklists.
• Follow safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), biosecurity, and PPE requirements.
• Identify, report, and address conditions that may affect safety, animal welfare, biosecurity, or production.
• Assist with training team members and support daily operational needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
