About The Position

Polar Semiconductor is seeking Equipment Maintenance Technicians to monitor, sustain, and improve Back-End-of-Line (BEOL) semiconductor manufacturing equipment at its Bloomington, Minnesota facility. The role is hands-on and technical, performed in a cleanroom environment, and works closely with production team members and area engineers to keep equipment operating effectively, minimize downtime, and maintain process stability.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in electronics technology or a related field, equivalent military training, or a combination of education and substantial directly related semiconductor maintenance experience.
Knowledge of electronics and control systems, AC/DC circuits, pneumatics, hydraulics, robotics, vacuum systems, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
Demonstrated proficiency troubleshooting electrical circuits and electronic components.
Knowledge of test and calibration equipment such as oscilloscopes and DMMs.
Understanding of SPC principles and ability to respond to process control issues.
Strong PC skills and familiarity with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to properly use common hand tools and PPE.
Strong problem-solving, time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

Maintenance experience on 200mm semiconductor equipment such as AMAT Endura and AMAT CMP.
Understanding of Metals or CMP semiconductor processes.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with demonstrated root-cause troubleshooting capability.

Responsibilities

Complete required safety training and perform work in compliance with safety policies.
Monitor tool performance and ensure uptime on assigned equipment sets.
Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and calibrations on BEOL process equipment.
Troubleshoot equipment using mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, vacuum, and PC/software skills.
Systematically troubleshoot to identify root causes and reduce equipment variability.
Assist with equipment installations, testing, and qualification activities.
Create, update, and improve controlled PM procedures, check-sheets, and work instructions.
Document maintenance activities in the Equipment Management System.
Monitor, analyze, and respond to SPC out-of-control conditions for assigned processes.
Communicate tool and area issues to Lead Technicians, Supervisors, and Area Engineers.
Support 5S activities and continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment availability.
Provide detailed pass downs for shift-to-shift transitions.
Safely work in hazardous environments using appropriate PPE, including SCBA or a respirator.
Participate in Emergency Response Team activities when required.
