About The Position

The Equip Distribution Tech ensures that the Patient Transport department has adequate patient-care equipment, maintains the equipment, and delivers it to various units. Equipment includes stretchers, morgue stretchers, wheelchairs, IV pumps, PCA pumps, Kangaroo pumps, code carts, a pediatric code cart, SDP items, Venodynes/SCD items, wound vacs, and VMS cameras. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

The role includes checking units to maintain equipment stock, collecting unused transport equipment for cleaning and processing, keeping stretcher levels at designated procedural areas, and maintaining equipment through cleaning, tagging, and delivery to Biomed when needed. The technician monitors cleaning supplies and orders them as necessary to support disinfection and infection prevention. Regular, reliable attendance and other assigned duties are also expected.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to establish excellent working relationships.
• Good communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
• Ability to exert up to 35 pounds of force; the role involves medium-to-heavy physical effort.

Responsibilities

• Round on all units at least twice per shift and ensure patient-care equipment is properly stocked.
• Collect unused transport equipment from patient units, clean and process it, and return it to availability for use.
• Maintain established stretcher par levels in key procedural areas.
• Clean and tag assigned equipment and deliver it to Biomed as needed.
• Monitor cleaning supplies and order them when needed to support disinfection and infection prevention.
• Demonstrate regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
