About The Position

The Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, Virginia is seeking a successful candidate to perform direct patient care duties and barn care duties as assigned. Duties include mucking, stripping, bedding, disinfecting and sterilization of stalls. Prepares patients for dismissal. Participates in the care of research herd. Assists veterinary staff in removal and storage of carcasses after regular hours. Assists with nursing duties as needed. Operates basic farm machinery to include tractors, trucks, riding mowers and forklifts.

Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge of animal (equine) husbandry.
• Previous experience in restraining and handling horses safely and effectively.
• Demonstrated experience in equine grooming techniques.
• Ability to follow directions and established protocol and procedures.
• Must be able to safely move and handle up to 50lbs.
• Must be 18 years old.

Nice To Haves

• Education/training in animal care, animal science, or related area.
