About The Position

This role offers the opportunity to work in 1800 acres of natural beauty in Central Oregon, surrounded by panoramic views of the Cascade Peaks, as part of an award-winning hospitality team at Brasada Ranch. The position is dedicated to delivering extraordinary guest experiences. As a Trail Guide, you are responsible for the care of the trail horses and guests during rides, providing excellent customer service. Daily tasks include catching, grooming, and tacking horses before rides, leading guests on safe walking trail rides (up to 12 guests at a time) while engaging in positive conversations, and then untacking, grooming, and turning out horses to their pastures after the last ride.

Requirements

  • Must be a natural leader
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must have at least 3 years' experience working with horses
  • Must have previous trail leading experience
  • Ability to become First Aid/CPR certified
  • Ability to discern whether a horse is in distress and needing veterinary care
  • Customer service experience required
  • Love working with horses
  • Possess first class customer service skills
  • Possess the ability to guide a safe walking trail ride up to 12 guests at a time
  • Must be a self-starter, work independently with little or no supervision
  • Reliable and responsible
  • Schedule flexibility to accommodate care of horses and trial ride needs year-round
  • Must have good interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate a very high standard of cleanliness and attention to detail
  • Ability to see a safety issue before it occurs and take the proper measures to ensure it doesn't happen

Responsibilities

  • Greeting guests and members with a smiling face and make them feel welcomed and safe
  • Complete routine safety protocols in prepare horses, tack, and guests for their trail ride
  • Complete routine at the end of trail rides including untacking horses, grooming, and ensuring equipment is in good standings, is cleaned and stored properly
  • Drive a small tractor, a Polaris Ranger, groomer and other related equipment
  • Ability to lead trail rides of up 3 hours per ride
  • Demonstrate knowledge, patience and a sense of enjoyment in caring for horses
  • Responsible for the care for the trail horses and noticing any health, skin or lameness issues
  • Must be a self-starter, work independently with little or no supervision
  • Reliable and responsible
  • Schedule flexibility to accommodate care of horses and trial ride needs year-round
  • Must have a good interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate a very high standard of cleanliness and attention to detail

  • Perform additional responsibilities and duties as assigned
  • Catching, grooming, and tacking trail horses before each ride
  • Leading guests on rides and engaging in positive conversations with them
  • Untacking, grooming, and turning out trail horses back to their pastures
