About The Position

This position provides support for a student(s) with disabilities during an after-school extra-curricular activity, specifically the Art Club. The role involves assisting the student(s) with a positive behavior support plan, encouraging social engagement with peers, and facilitating participation in activities directed by the club facilitator. The goal is to encourage student independence where appropriate and ensure effective communication with students and staff.

Requirements

• Possess a two-year or four-college degree graduate
• Possess a current CPR Certified (First aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
• Possess the ability to work with children with disabilities
• Possess the ability to work cooperatively with others
• Possess the ability to communicate with adults and children
• Possess excellent writing skills
• Possess the ability to learn about the characteristics of specific disabilities
• Possess the ability to learn and be trained a positive behavior support plan

Responsibilities

• Responsible for assisting a student(s) with special needs during a High School extra curricular activity
• Responsible for supporting the student(s) with a positive behavior support plan.
• Encourage the student(s) to engage and participate socially with peers in the extra curricular activity
• Encourage the student(s) to perform tasks directed by the facilitator of the extra curricular activity.
• Responsible for effective and appropriate communication with students and staff.
• Encourage independence of students when deemed appropriate dependent on the requirements of the activity.
