About The Position
Provide support for a student(s) with disabilities during after-school extra-curricular activity.
Requirements
- Possess a two-year or four-college degree graduate
- Possess a current CPR Certified (First aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Possess the ability to work with children with disabilities
- Possess the ability to work cooperatively with others
- Possess the ability to communicate with adults and children
- Possess excellent writing skills
- Possess the ability to learn about the characteristics of specific disabilities
- Possess the ability to learn and be trained a positive behavior support plan
Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting a student(s) with special needs during a High School extra curricular activity
- Responsible for supporting the student(s) with a positive behavior support plan.
- Encourage the student(s) to engage and participate socially with peers in the extra curricular activity
- Encourage the student(s) to perform tasks directed by the facilitator of the extra curricular activity.
- Responsible for effective and appropriate communication with students and staff.
- Encourage independence of students when deemed appropriate dependent on the requirements of the activity.
