About The Position

Perform 3KW – 150 KW maintenance to include EPP III Engine, Main Gen, and Control Panel overhaul, troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and services on all types of military and commercial generators and HVAC systems used by the U.S. Army. As a Generator rebuild and HVAC Technician, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Worldwide Field Support contract for the U.S. Army. You’ll play a crucial role in providing on-site technical and maintenance assistance, analyzing complex technical problems, and providing training to site operations and maintenance personnel.

Requirements

  • 3 + years of related experience
  • US Citizenship Required
  • High School diploma (or higher)
  • Extensive diesel engine rebuild and generator experience.
  • Knowledge of generator parallel systems and switch gear.
  • Experience with brazing copper tubing and evacuating and recharging refrigerant.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance within 12 months of the start date
  • US passport must not expire for at least 2 years
  • Valid US driver’s license
  • International driver’s permit (AAA)
  • Must pass all medical requirements of CRC in order to deploy to the CENTCOM Area of Operations

  • Certifications: Section 608 Technician Certification – EPA

Responsibilities

  • Perform overhaul, maintenance and sustainment support on 3kW to 150kW, 50\60\400hz generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoots and repair alternating current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories.
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units – some are standalone units and others are mounted on trailers and vehicles.
  • Maintain all types of commercial power generation equipment; military spec generators and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS).
  • Operate a Load bank and dynometer during testing.
  • Fabricate wire harnesses and solder terminals.
  • Some work will be in a generator shop environment, and some work will be in a field environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
