Epitaxy/CVD Process Development Engineer (SM1)

Texas Instruments•Sherman, TX

About The Position

As a Epi Process Development Engineer in Texas Instruments’ Sherman organization, you will own the development, integration, and qualification of Epi processes for LBC11 flows, enabling the technology ramp from development to high-volume manufacturing at SMFAB. The processes are intended to run on every wafer at SMFAB and must deliver precise material and process parameters without disturbing localized films and areas. The role drives CVD and Epi process and device improvements through characterization, testing, design of experiments, data analysis, and simulation. It involves collaborating with process, integration, reliability, packaging, test, product-group, and vendor partners to optimize device performance and improve production outcomes. The engineer is expected to plan effectively, manage schedules and concurrent tasks, meet deadlines, lead technical discussions, communicate project status and actions clearly, and work across organizational boundaries and diverse teams.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in semiconductor wafer fabrication for advanced nodes.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Epi or CVD processing on AMAT, Novellus, and/or ASM platforms.
  • Good understanding of CVD dielectric film characteristics and their interactions with downstream processes.
  • Ability to plan effectively, drive schedules, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, lead technical discussions, communicate project status, and work across organizational boundaries.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with both CVD and Epi; candidates with experience in both receive strong consideration.
  • Experience with high-stress films and corrections.
  • Experience developing new Epi and/or CVD processes from the ground up.
  • Strong inline-to-end-of-line signal correlation and process characterization skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships across internal and external partners.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to ramp quickly on new systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Drive CVD and Epi process and device improvements through characterization, testing, design of experiments, data analysis, and simulation.
  • Work with process, integration, reliability, packaging, and test engineers to achieve process and device goals.
  • Work with product groups to identify and optimize performance against critical final device parameters.
  • Partner with vendors to bring improvement opportunities to SMFAB, including improved PPH, cycle time, process stability, and equipment or process uptime.
  • Plan effectively, drive schedules, meet critical deadlines across multiple parallel tasks, and lead technical discussions in the area of expertise.
  • Clearly communicate project status and actions, interface with multiple organizations, and work effectively across teams.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Extensive health coverage.
  • Wellness programs.
