About The Position

Quality Staffing, Inc., doing business as Goddard Mason Executive Search, is seeking an experienced Epidemiologist to work as a contract employee with the Tennessee Department of Health (TN DOH) in Nashville, TN. This is a remote position, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The role involves assisting in the coordination of communicable disease informatics related projects within the Communicable and Environmental Disease and Emergency Preparedness (CEDEP) Division, specifically supporting the Surveillance Systems and Informatics (SSI) Program. The position will function as an ELR Specialist, providing support for REDCap, Electronic Lab Reporting (ELR), and other SSI informatics projects. The role offers exposure to interoperability standards like HL7 and opportunities to work on system integration projects. Candidates must be local to the Nashville area.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of work experience with ELR onboarding and/or maintenance at a state or local health department.
  • 1 to 3 years of work experience with Rhapsody or working to define specifications for Rhapsody developers.
  • Experience writing statistical and analytical programming code in SAS, SQL, or R.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects.
  • Candidates must be local to the Nashville area.

Responsibilities

  • Completing ELR onboarding using HL7 2.4.1 standards.
  • Providing input on and managing various production monitoring tasks including alerts, dashboard development and maintenance, and issue identification.
  • Completing investigation of ELR processing issues independently and identifying proposed solutions.
  • Working collaboratively with Rhapsody developers to enhance existing routes or define new routes for ELR processing.
  • Assisting with processing of laboratory data submitted via our alternate file format (i.e. flat file).
  • Coordinating routine and ad hoc management of standard interoperability vocabulary within the disease surveillance system.
  • Acting as liaison to downstream users of ELR data within TDH and CEDEP.
  • Supporting other ELR maintenance tasks (e.g., parallel validation, LOINC code assignments, and production errors).
