About The Position

Quality Staffing, Inc. is seeking an experienced Epidemiologist to work as a contract employee with the Tennessee Department of Health (TN DOH) in Nashville, TN. This is a hybrid position with a 37.5-hour work week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The role involves supporting the Controlled Substance and Monitoring Database (CSMD), Tennessee's Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), by collecting, managing, and analyzing data related to prescription drug use, misuse, and overdose. The position requires candidates to be local to the Nashville area due to monthly in-person staff meeting requirements. The work will contribute to evidence-based public health responses and involve data linkage with various sources.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in public health and analytics.
  • Proficiency in analytical and visualization tools (e.g., R, SAS, Stata, Python, and Tableau).
  • Strong SQL skills and familiarity with relational databases.
  • Experience linking different databases.
  • Ability to communicate complex data findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of public health data sources and overdose surveillance systems.
  • Must be local to the Nashville area.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting evaluations of overdose prevention and interventions such as prescribing limits, naloxone distribution, and provider education programs.
  • Creating provider education materials in support of prevention activities.
  • Producing a report specific to buprenorphine and creating visualization products for dissemination.
  • Collaborating with public health officials, program staff, and external partners to develop actionable insights.
  • Performing statistical analysis to identify trends, hotspots, and risk factors for drug overdose.
  • Creating dashboards and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working with epidemiologist, program managers, and healthcare providers to inform prevention and intervention efforts.
  • Ensuring data quality, security, and confidentiality in line with HIPAA, applicable data governance policies and other regulations.
  • Contributing to grant applications, research studies, and presentations as needed.
