About The Position

The Tennessee Department of Health's Division of Family Health and Wellness is hiring a contract Epidemiologist 1 for the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs section in Nashville, TN. This position will be responsible for professional scientific and epidemiological assessments of considerable difficulty for the Community Health Access and Navigation in Tennessee (CHANT Initiative). This is a contract position.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in epidemiology, public health biostatistics, statistics or health information.
OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in health science, biomedical science or environmental science field with experience equivalent to two years’ work experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, health informatics health sciences, biomedical sciences or environmental sciences.
Extensive knowledge of REDCap.
Proficient at managing electronic data and navigating complex databases.
Attention to detail.
Demonstrated experiences in customer service and working on teams.
Proficient at statistical software programming, such as SAS.
Foundation in system design, analysis and evaluation.
Ability to work remotely.
Ability to come into the Nashville office monthly or as needed.
Current Tennessee resident.

Nice To Haves

Experience in public health and health data such as vital records or health survey data.
Experience in deployment or implementation of application systems or related field.

Responsibilities

Developing and maintaining enhancements to the CHANT (Community Health Access and Navigation Team) data collection project.
Building out a data collection module in REDCap to guide programmatic efforts and collect data for evaluation and program oversight.
Assisting with the CHANT program integration into a new data system.
Preparing routine reports of program participation and outcomes to internal and external partners.
Implementing SAS code changes and REDCap project changes as monitoring guidance evolves or processes change.
Providing technical assistance to non-technical staff (e.g., REDCap system, SOP/task guidance, etc.).
Writing independent code and testing output for accuracy.
Pulling, cleaning, and submitting recurring CHANT reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) in a timely manner.
Working closely with MCH Programs Team to effectively support MCH surveillance projects and create data outputs and visualizations for CHANT data.
Providing quick response to data inquiries and providing information of CHANT data to regional teams, leadership, stakeholders, and other public health partners.
Fulfilling ad-hoc data and/or analysis requests.
Translating programmatic requirements into the development of appropriate data collection.
