About The Position

The Role The MS Epic Training Specialist collaborates with the healthcare organizations’ training teams to coordinate and support in three key areas: communications and training delivery, digital platform innovation & Learning Management System administration, and technical operations. The MS Epic Training Specialist provides leadership and strategic direction for the training teams within the Managed Services division of Nordic Global. This role requires significant training expertise in supporting large-scale and critical healthcare applications and can provide training leadership for large application upgrade, migration, and consolidation projects. Design and training are based upon identified needs of our clients at both the group and system level, aligned with the organization’s strategic goals, quality measures, and patient experience. Proposes innovative learning solutions, and pilots and implements the approved innovations. Manages medium to large scale end user training projects/programs that have high visibility. Requirements

  • Generally requires a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience, a Master's degree and 3 years of related experience, or 8 years of related experience and no degree.
  • Associate degree in Health Sciences, Education, Communications, IT Related Field or equivalent industry experience
  • Exceptional communication, presentation skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with little oversight.
  • Strong project leadership, change management and facilitation skills.
  • Advanced knowledge and application of use of video assisted (i.e. Captivate, Audacity, Camtasia or uPerform) tools for system integration with training needs.
  • Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
  • Ability to create reports from raw data.
  • Ability to review and provide feedback on external software for training implementation.
  • Strong understanding of non-EHR technical systems and their impact on the EHR.
  • Strong understanding of Epic change management and Data Courier
  • Works well under pressure to meet weekly communications deadlines.
  • Able to hold others accountable to meet necessary deadlines that impact EHR communications.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Epic Principal Training role or other applicable I&T technical position that aligns with the Architect position, e.g. database administration, integrations, client systems management, communications, software development, etc.

  • Strong understanding of blended learning and a variety of education delivery systems including classroom, web, self-paced, social, etc. a plus

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and modify current end user training products.
  • Create end user training content as needed for clients, including e-learning content, training environment build, lesson plans, exercises, and more.
  • Plan and perform administrative functions related to training.
  • Partners with clinical and operational leadership in identifying learning needs and designs solutions to meet emerging learning requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, both internal and external
  • Review evaluative data and identify and enact recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintains the operation and integrity of all Epic training environments.
  • Troubleshoots build discrepancies between training and PRD as well as any build issues or “breaks” in the training environments.
  • Functions as a Mitosis guru for the organization and customers
  • Assesses and supports external software systems that are used for Epic training purposes and ensures their operational efficiency.
  • Stays current on Epic product upgrades and implementations for incorporation into training programs.
  • Participates and certifies, if necessary, in other applications that are critical in ensuring training integrity, efficiency and optimization. Examples include Epic Bridges, Data Courier, etc.
  • Provide polished end user communication before, during, and after training
  • Deliver training to end users and use classroom observation data to inform future instructional approaches to maximize the user learning experience and user adoption
  • Administer end user proficiency assessments
  • Track trainer evaluation data via end user surveys
  • Assist the training team with managing and uploading educational materials into the LMS.
  • Review all posted training content for formatting accuracy and work with the Principal Trainers to ensure consistent material updates are completed.
  • Track employed staff training completions in the LMS and other access systems for non-employed associates.
  • Administer training surveys
  • Ability to gather data and information from Epic and surveys and create reportable information that assist the client on how to improve education content and the delivery of it.
  • Seeking out opportunities to delegate work to other team members so all members of the team are growing their capabilities with appropriate guidance and oversight
  • Mentoring and coaching all members of the team in training, technical, and soft skills such time-management, communication, project management, and escalation
  • Provides prompt feedback that builds confidence in team members and guidance on skills and approaches to improve
