About The Position

The Epic Consultant will be responsible for the successful configuration, implementation, and optimization of Epic modules—focusing on referrals—within a large hospital system. This role requires a deep understanding of clinical workflows, hospital operations, and integration of Epic systems with other healthcare applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in guiding complex implementations, training staff, and ensuring that the system meets both regulatory and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as an Epic Consultant, preferably within a hospital or healthcare system setting.
  • Proven expertise in Epic modules, with a strong focus on referrals and hospital workflow integrations.
  • Experience in managing complex system integrations and interfacing projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze clinical workflows and implement process improvements.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Epic certification(s) relevant to referrals or hospital systems.
  • Experience working on large-scale Epic implementations in multi-hospital environments.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Proven track record of driving user adoption through effective training and support initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of Epic modules with an emphasis on referrals workflows.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership, clinical teams, and IT departments to gather requirements and translate them into effective system solutions.
  • Oversee the integration and optimization of referral processes within the Epic environment.
  • Ensure seamless interoperability between the referrals module and other clinical and administrative systems.
  • Facilitate the interfacing of Epic with other hospital systems, ensuring data integrity and workflow efficiency.
  • Provide post-implementation support, troubleshooting issues, and managing system upgrades and patches.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for end-users to maximize system utilization.
  • Create comprehensive documentation including system processes, user guides, and troubleshooting manuals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related communication with internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in project planning, resource allocation, and scheduling, ensuring milestones are met within budget and time constraints.
