The Epic Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Epic Beacon and Willow application teams, serving as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, clinical operations, and information technology. This role is responsible for overseeing application design, implementation, optimization, and support activities while developing a high-performing team of Epic professionals. The manager will drive adoption of best practices, mentor team members, and partner across the organization to deliver innovative, scalable solutions that improve patient care, operational efficiency, and end-user experience. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Requirements

  • Active Epic Beacon Certification
  • Active Epic Willow Inpatient Certification
  • 6+ years of experience in healthcare and information technology
  • 3+ years of hands-on Epic configuration and build experience
  • 2+ years of lead experience within Epic space
  • Experience configuring and supporting oncology, infusion and pharmacy workflows including clinical notes, orders, order sets, medication dispensing, general medication maintenance, medication administration record and infusion protocols
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Proven excellent team management, communication and leadership skills and a commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion and a culture of innovation
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%25

Nice To Haves

  • Active pharmacist license
  • Certification in Service Management, Project Management, or Business Analysis
  • Formal team leadership experience in Epic space
  • Ambulatory and clinical decision support experience and certifications in addition to the certifications listed above
  • Clinical experience in oncology, infusion and/or pharmacy

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Epic application design, development, maintenance activities of applications under direct purview
  • Collaborate with end users to design Epic Clinical Beacon and Willow workflows by suggesting corrective adjustments or enhancements
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and implement AI-enabled, automation, and digital solutions that improve workflows, operational efficiency, decision-making, and the overall user experience within the Epic ecosystem.
  • Determine staffing requirements, perform capacity planning for resources and supervise the work of direct reports to ensure that team is functioning effectively and efficiently
  • Serve as a mentor, resource, and primary advisor for all direct reports
  • Provides technical/clinical workflow guidance including application configuration. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates systems needs to develop recommendations for customers
  • Lead all phases (design, build, testing) of medium to large scale Epic projects, including software upgrades, implementation of new modules and significant optimization initiatives
  • Provide support for application incidents reported through the help desk; including 24/7 on call coverage as required
  • Manage in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with Epic software
  • Work with department representatives to analyze needs and translate these into system design
  • Assist team to translate business requirements into functional specifications and manages changes to specifications; prioritize, coordinate, and implement updates and requested changes to the system; reviews and tests each new release; troubleshoots problems and questions from end users
  • Manage and develop solid relationships with end user communities, customers and business partners
  • Facilitate communication with stakeholders from initial requirements to final implementation
