About The Position

Oversee daily operations of Stowers Machinery’s EPG field service team, ensuring timely, high‑quality service for customers across East Tennessee Support technicians with troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair planning, and Caterpillar‑specific procedures Coordinate field assignments, manage workloads, and ensure efficient routing and scheduling across multiple Stowers branches Review and approve service documentation, repair recommendations, and work orders to maintain accuracy and consistency Maintain strong customer relationships by providing clear communication, professional support, and timely service updates Ensure compliance with Stowers Machinery safety policies, Caterpillar standards, and industry regulations Monitor performance metrics, service quality, and productivity to support operational goals Collaborate with parts, sales, and service departments to ensure customer needs are met and equipment downtime is minimized Provide coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance to EPG field service technicians Promote consistent service standards and best practices across all Stowers Machinery locations Lead by example in safety, professionalism, and customer service Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new technicians within the EPG division Drive continuous improvement in service processes, documentation, and team performance

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of power generation systems, including generators, ATS units, switchgear, and related electrical/mechanical components used throughout Stowers Machinery’s Electric Power Generation (EPG) division
  • Ability to diagnose complex electrical and mechanical issues and support technicians with advanced troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar power systems, service procedures, and Stowers Machinery safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret Caterpillar service manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with technicians, customers, and internal departments across Stowers’ branch network
  • Proficiency with service documentation, CAT diagnostic tools, and Stowers’ internal reporting systems
  • Ability to manage schedules, prioritize workloads, and maintain high service quality across multiple locations
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to travel to job sites, customer locations, and Stowers branch facilities
  • Ability to stand, climb, bend, and work around heavy equipment as needed
  • Lift up to 50–80 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to focus on detailed technical tasks and maintain accuracy
  • Must pass pre‑employment background check, physical exam, and drug screen
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with customers, technicians, and internal teams

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in power generation or field service operations
  • Experience working with Caterpillar EPG products or similar OEM equipment
  • Training or certification in electrical systems, power generation, or mechanical diagnostics
  • Familiarity with Stowers Machinery processes, service workflows, and customer support expectations
  • Technical training, trade school, or military equivalent in electrical, mechanical, or power generation fields preferred
  • Experience with Caterpillar diagnostic tools, digital inspection systems, or equipment management platforms
