•$67,564 - $135,128•Onsite

About The Position

Centrus Energy is seeking senior field Construction Specialists to plan and control field execution of facility modifications and new installations at the American Centrifuge Plant (ACP) on the DOE Portsmouth reservation in Piketon, Ohio. Projects are subject to NRC regulation and require rigorous safety, quality, and regulatory discipline during construction and turnover. The work supports evolving mission needs and infrastructure changes across potential enrichment and processing operations. Construction value is estimated at more than $1 billion over the next five years. The successful candidate will oversee field construction contractors and support or lead EPC and specialty-contractor scopes. Responsibilities span project planning, constructability and design reviews, conversion of design outputs into executable work packages, regulatory and safety compliance, testing, commissioning coordination, and turnover. The role also provides construction status and risk information to project and site leadership and captures lessons learned for future ACP/HALEU work. The position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Q security clearance. An active Q or Top Secret clearance is identified as a qualification of a successful candidate. The role is incentive eligible, with an estimated starting base salary range of $67,564–$135,128. Candidates are subject to pre-employment background and drug checks; employees in clearance-required positions are also subject to random and incident- or suspicion-based drug testing and may require federal security reinvestigations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, or related) or Construction Management from an accredited institution, or equivalent field experience.
  • At least 5 years in a construction engineering or field engineering role for industrial facilities, including oversight of contractors and multidisciplinary field scopes.
  • Hands-on experience with work planning and approval documentation, QA/QC inspections, welding/mechanical/electrical installation oversight, and startup/commissioning support.
  • Familiarity with RFIs, NCRs, test plans, and as-built control.
  • Demonstrated collaboration with EPCs and vendors and familiarity with progress tracking, change control, and field estimating.
  • Working knowledge of DOE site operations or similarly regulated environments, and ability to execute work consistent with ACP’s licensing basis and site procedures.
  • Practical application of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and IEEE/NEMA, with a strong safety leadership record supporting high-hazard work.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Q security clearance.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug test are required; clearance-related federal background investigation and possible reinvestigations are required.

  • Support constructability reviews of conceptual and detailed design outputs, including statements of work, specifications, and drawings.
  • Support execution of design outputs through contracted companies, translating them into executable work deliverables such as permits, procedures, testing, hold points, and acceptance criteria.
  • Sponsor resolution of RFIs and RFCs, manage redlines, and drive as-built documentation to maintain configuration control.
  • Support or lead construction scopes administered through EPC and specialty contractors; monitor cost, schedule, and performance; enforce contract requirements; and manage change orders and progress verification.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance during field execution with applicable codes and standards, site procedures, and the ACP licensing and regulatory framework.
