EO Optical Engineer II (Onsite)

RTX•Tucson, AZ
•$68,900 - $131,100•Onsite

About The Position

The Raytheon Electro-Optics (EO) department is responsible for requirements decomposition, detailed design, and production support of EO sensors and seekers, including detectors, cryogenic systems, and supporting structures. The multidisciplinary department designs, models, analyzes, and verifies optical components and the structures and mechanisms that support or move them, as well as cryogenic systems that cool and maintain EO detector temperatures. Engineers communicate detector interface and performance requirements to suppliers and verify compliance, and apply multiple engineering disciplines to assemble, test, and verify optical, electrical, and mechanical components as they are integrated into sensor/seeker subsystems. The EO Optical Engineer II participates in program activities as a mentee and individual contributor. The role involves optical alignment and testing, EO modeling and analysis, requirements and trade studies, and design of optical and opto-mechanical seeker systems or missile test fixtures. The engineer also supports troubleshooting, production assembly and documentation, failure analysis, and corrective actions for hardware and process issues, including issues involving suppliers.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related STEM major, obtained before the start date.
  • Experience with electro-optical subsystems.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • An active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required before the start date.
  • Ability to obtain an interim U.S. government-issued security clearance is required before the start date.
