About The Position

Quantum Art is a full-stack quantum computing company developing scalable trapped-ion quantum computers. Our multidisciplinary team designs and builds every layer of the quantum computing stack—from quantum hardware to software and algorithms. We are developing cutting-edge technologies to enable the next generation of fault-tolerant quantum computers. About the Role We are looking for a highly motivated Electro-Optics Lab Technician / Engineer to join our Electro-Optics Group. This is a hands-on laboratory position focused on building, calibrating, and maintaining advanced optical systems that support our trapped-ion quantum computing platform. The ideal candidate enjoys working in the lab, has excellent technical and troubleshooting skills, and takes pride in assembling and maintaining high-precision electro-optical systems.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience assembling, aligning, and calibrating precision electro-optical systems.
  • Strong practical laboratory skills and a hands-on approach to technical work.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with researchers and engineers.
  • A highly technical, hands-on individual who enjoys laboratory work.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality experimental work.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to support multiple experimental activities across the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with laser systems, including alignment, maintenance, and frequency stabilization - a big advantage.
  • Practical engineering or B.Sc. in a relevant field – an advantage.
  • Experience working in an R&D laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with optical instrumentation, photonics components, and laboratory best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Build, align, calibrate, and characterize electro-optical setups.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and optimization of the company's laser systems, including maintaining robust and accurate laser frequency locks to ensure reliable operation for trapped-ion experiments.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in optical and laser systems to maximize system uptime and performance.
  • Maintain inventory and stock of electro-optical components and laboratory supplies.
  • Provide electro-optical support to R&D laboratories, including setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of experimental systems.
  • Document procedures, calibrations, and maintenance activities.
