Perform the setup, modification and servicing of equipment designed to simulate environmental conditions encountered in launch and space environment such as vibration, structural stress, thermal and atmospheric changes and operate such equipment to perform tests and accumulate data on any one major vehicle system or subsystem relative to the reaction of the test item to conditions under which the item is tested. Determine and accomplish the appropriate setup of test equipment and test specimen to perform tests and obtain test data at the system or subsystem level following defined procedural steps. Operate and monitor equipment such as but not limited to high vacuum and cryogenic systems, solar simulation apparatus, closed loop vibration controllers, high pressure load control systems and fluid dynamics stimulators to carry out required tests. Work to written test requirements/ instructions, Test Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, or practices and engineering information. Apply a working knowledge of the equipment characteristics and capabilities, and accepted laboratory and shop practices. Select or design/develop, improvise, modify and fabricate test aids, fixtures for monitoring devices, specialized apparatus and similar items required to completely setup for, conduct or monitor tests, and to evaluate test articles. Develop programs for and operate heat flux simulators, data systems, high pressure fluid dynamic stimulators, electronic controllers, data recorders, gauges and radiation sensors.
