This opportunity is for a position with the Environmental Test Laboratory. The candidate will set up and execute environmental testing projects designed to take products to the limit of their functional and structural design. The candidate will learn to operate climatic chambers designed to replicate the freezing temperatures of earth poles, the scorching temperatures of deserts, the humidity of jungles, the altitudes of the skies, and the frigid vacuum of space. Similarly, the candidate will learn to operate electrodynamic shakers where harsh vibration environments are reproduced to test products for their survivability to transportation, gunfire, aircraft-carrier arrests, and rocket launch conditions. The candidate will work in a team-oriented environment in a laboratory that runs year-round. Activities include, but are not limited to, the handling and manipulation of extreme high-value hardware, installation of instrumentation such as thermocouples and accelerometers, programming of test chamber computer control systems, monitoring of data acquisition systems, and monitoring/controlling chamber/shaker performance.
