About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. Position Summary The Environmental Test Technician II supports execution of environmental testing activities including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, and acoustic testing. This role operates with moderate independence, contributing to test setup, execution, troubleshooting, and documentation while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The Technician II is expected to have a solid technical foundation and may assist in training, as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or trade school certification in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2+ years of relevant experience with an associate/trade school degree, or 3–5 years of relevant hands-on experience in lieu of formal education
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Ability to follow safety protocols in a manufacturing environment
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) or similar tools

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting environmental testing or similar technical operations preferred
  • Experience with environmental test methods (thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, acoustic)
  • Familiarity with test instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and test documentation
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Effective time management and task prioritization
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Familiarity with test data systems and documentation tools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform environmental testing including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, acoustic, and related tests
  • Set up and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
  • Follow established procedures, test plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Assist in planning and preparing test configurations, fixturing, and instrumentation setups
  • Monitor tests and record data accurately; identify and report anomalies or deviations
  • Troubleshoot basic to moderately complex test issues and support root cause investigations
  • Document test results, non-conformances, and observations in accordance with quality standards
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements
  • Support maintenance and calibration of test equipment as needed
  • Assist in training and mentoring Technician I personnel
  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to support test objectives
  • Provide hands-on support to ensure successful and timely test execution
