About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. This position is based in our satellite production facility in Midland, TX, with full relocation provided. We are in search of an Environmental Test Technician I supports execution of environmental testing activities including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, and acoustic testing. This role operates under general supervision while performing test setup, execution, and documentation. The Technician I is expected to have foundational hands-on experience and the ability to execute standard tests with guidance, while continuing to build technical depth and troubleshooting capability. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product integrity, safety, and compliance with aerospace and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of relevant hands-on technical experience
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Effective time management and task prioritization
  • Willingness to learn and grow technical capability
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) or similar tools

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to environmental test methods (thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, acoustic)
  • Basic familiarity with test instrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and test procedures
  • Foundational troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with test data systems and documentation tools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform environmental testing including thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, acoustic, and related tests with guidance as needed
  • Set up and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems following established procedures
  • Execute test plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs) with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Assist with test configuration, fixturing, and instrumentation installation
  • Monitor tests and accurately record data; identify and report anomalies or deviations
  • Troubleshoot routine test issues and escalate more complex problems as needed
  • Document test results, observations, and non-conformances in accordance with quality standards
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements
  • Support equipment upkeep, basic maintenance, and calibration activities
  • Collaborate with technicians and engineers to support successful test execution
  • Maintain organized work areas and test documentation
