Position Summary The Environmental Technician supports various GSA Zones by coordinating environmental programs, ensuring regulatory compliance initiatives. The role provides technical expertise, develops training and documentation, reviews contractor work, and supports environmental reporting and program improvement with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in environmental management or related field activities.
  • Knowledge of environmental programs and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to manage projects independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong writing, organization, and administrative skills; proficiency with MS Word and Excel; familiarity with MS Project and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with document control and environmental compliance documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate environmental program activities, schedules, documentation, construction dig permits, and soil decontamination efforts to support SEMS and related GSA initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training, maintain program materials, and support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including requirements related to contaminated soil management, remediation, and disposal.
  • Oversee and coordinate soil decontamination projects, including site assessments, remediation planning, contractor oversight, waste characterization, transportation, and disposal in accordance with applicable environmental regulations.
  • Prepare reports and interface with GSA Central Office and regulatory agencies on environmental compliance, soil remediation activities, and overall program performance.
  • Maintain organized electronic and hardcopy records, track program metrics, and support continuous improvement of environmental programs.
