About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Environmental Technician to work onsite at Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) Tacoma, Washington, to support the hazardous waste program.

Requirements

Valid Commercial Driver License (Class A or B) with Hazmat certification or ability to obtain once hired
Current 40-hr HAZWOPER or ability to obtain once hired
Knowledgeable of the procedures and precautions necessary for moving, handling, packaging, and shipping of hazardous waste (HW)
Working knowledge of Federal environmental statutes and State-specific regulations pertaining to HW and hazardous materials
Ability to drive forklifts and operate warehouse tools and equipment (i.e. drum lifts, pallet jack, etc.)
Strong written and oral communication skills and proficiency with MS Office applications (Word and Excel) is required
Ability to successfully pass a federal agency background check is required

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with OSHA, DoD, and Installation Storage, Handling, and Transportation regulations preferred
Individuals already possessing an adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) are preferred

Responsibilities

Management of hazardous waste labeling, collection, storage, and transportation.
Experience using HMID and Enterprise, Environmental, Safety, Occupational Health- Management Information System (EESOH-MIS) programs for tracking hazardous waste, approving processes, preparing shipments, data pulls and ad-hoc reporting.
Assist with compilation of monthly report of office activities.
Customer support including answering phones and emails.
