About The Position

HGS Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Technician to join their team in Oxford, AL. This full-time position involves regular travel to sample sites throughout the United States, often on short notice. The role requires collecting water samples, taking field measurements, documenting activities, and maintaining field equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, basic computer skills, and the ability to work independently. This role is primarily on-site with significant travel requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED or equivalent
Must be authorized to work in the US & have required documents for domestic air travel (Star ID or US Passport)
Must pass a pre-employment drug test
Must pass a pre-employment background check
Must have a good driving record.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
Possess knowledge of basic computer skills.
Ability to lift 50-pound boxes.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to work alone without direct supervision to accomplish tasks and goals.

Responsibilities

Travel to collect water samples from various facilities throughout the United States by following written protocols, often on short notice.
Travel to take field measurements of water (pH, temperature, etc.).
Accurately document sampling activities and chain of custody forms.
Maintain field equipment, calibrate meters, and ensure equipment is in proper working condition.
Ability to extensively travel up to 80% of the time.
Ability to occasionally travel on Sundays.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the laboratory’s management team.
