About The Position

AECOM is seeking an experienced Environmental Technician in Billings, MT, to support remediation system operation and maintenance and groundwater monitoring projects at client facilities in the Montana region. This role involves working closely with team members, ideally with experience in mechanical systems and environmental remediation/sampling. Typical projects include operation and maintenance of groundwater treatment systems, soil remediation, and soil and groundwater sampling.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, background check, and drug and alcohol screen.
  • Must participate in ongoing medical surveillance and client-specific drug and alcohol screening as a condition of continued employment.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable environmental conditions including heat, cold, dust, noise, moisture, vibration, and potential chemical hazards.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to perform repetitive bending, use of hand or power tools, and gripping/squeezing hand tools and levers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Strict compliance with safety requirements, including use of personal protective equipment (gloves, eye protection, safety-toe shoes, hard hat, hearing protection, and fire-resistant clothing).
  • US citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to operate a computer (Word, excel, email, Teams, etc.).
  • Mechanical skills and hands-on experience with mechanical systems.
  • Experience with environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, and waste).
  • Experience with industrial health and safety programs.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPERR Training/Current Refresher is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Managing data and tracking operating parameters.
  • Performing routine fieldwork (such as environmental multi-media sampling, operations, maintenance, and inspection of equipment) working under close supervision for the first six months.
  • Performing routine activities associated with remediation system operation and maintenance, general equipment maintenance, groundwater monitoring, and recording accurate field data.
  • Health and safety coordination.
  • Inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications.
  • Maintaining proper project documentation.
  • Subcontractor oversight.
