About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Environmental System Technician to join their team in Novi, MI. This role involves approximately 95-100% field work. As part of the Resilience Environment team, the technician will support project sites with operations and maintenance of wastewater and water treatment systems, remedial treatment systems, environmental monitoring, waste coordination, and subcontractor oversight. The ideal candidate should have experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting various treatment systems and possess an aptitude for mechanical and electrical problem-solving.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of mechanical system O&M experience
  • Mechanically inclined with experience operating and troubleshooting tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and have a general understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings.
  • Effective time management.
  • Ability to work with diverse people and skill sets.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound judgement to make good decisions benefitting the project and the client.
  • Fluent in Microsoft suite of software (word, excel, Teams, Sharepont) and familiar with PowerBI, MSAccess and PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

  • Performing remedial system O&M, troubleshooting, optimization, and monitoring/sampling.
  • Ensuring Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Assuring integrity, cleanliness, and security of system buildings/enclosures and equipment.
  • Providing prompt communication to the project management team when equipment is not safe and/or functioning at optimal performance to meet project objectives.
  • Operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, repairing, and adjusting treatment plant machinery and equipment including pumps, valves, motors, meters, tanks, reservoirs, feeders, and other equipment to ensure system is operating at optimal operation for the established metrics including Municipal, State, and Federal codes for environmental protection of waterways and air quality.
  • Performing system preventative maintenance procedures and checks.
  • Ensuring all activities are being performed in accordance with our Quality Management System.
  • Implementing immediate corrective actions when an alarm is triggered or system data indicates a potential safety, operational or compliance issue.
  • Reviewing and evaluating operational data and providing recommendations for improving system performance to meet system objectives.
  • Collecting system samples according to established permit and operational requirements.
  • Calibrating and maintaining controllers, electrodes, flow and control equipment.
  • Determining and preparing appropriate ratios of chemical mixes for batch treatments (where applicable).
  • Installing, maintaining, and performing data download from a host of smart telemetry devices internet of things (IOT).
  • Overseeing subcontractors to perform selected operation, maintenance/repair of systems, preventative maintenance, and monitoring in accordance with Health and Safety requirements.
  • Recording all project observations, readings, and activities as required for regulatory, client, and safety record keeping requirements in a timely Manner (Using electronic, field books, tablets, or paper forms).
