About The Position
The Environmental Svcs Tech I completes assigned daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient-care areas, equipment, and common areas. The role requires applying healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles, using chemicals and equipment safely, and following organizational safety, risk-management, and infection-control guidelines. The technician also participates in departmental performance-improvement initiatives, including efforts to improve patient experience and cleanliness metrics. The position is at St. Joseph Health Madison Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Madisonville, Texas. The hospital offers a Level IV Trauma Center and inpatient and outpatient services, therapy, emergency care, skilled nursing care, injury treatment, and more. It is accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and designated as a Level III Support Stroke Facility by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is listed under minimum qualifications preferred.
Nice To Haves
- Previous housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience in high-traffic facilities such as hospitals, clinics, hotels, casinos, convention centers, or schools.
Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, nurse stations, waiting areas, meeting rooms, offices, corridors, and other common areas.
- Maintain cleanliness in accordance with hospital and CDC guidelines.
- Use cleaning chemicals safely and follow procedures for disposing of hazardous materials.
- Inventory and ensure proper storage of hazardous materials, including materials that are flammable, corrosive, reactive, or toxic.
- Display signs to help prevent injuries, including slips and falls, to patients, employees, and visitors.
- Follow organizational safety, risk-management, and infection-control guidelines and standards.
- Participate in departmental performance-improvement initiatives, including initiatives to improve patient experience and cleanliness metrics.
