About The Position

The Environmental Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in ensuring compliance and advancing sustainable mining practices at SSR Mining’s Cripple Creek & Victor Mine (CC&V). Reporting to the Sustainability & External Relations Manager, the Supervisor will oversee environmental systems and programs including water management, air quality, waste management, and biodiversity protection. This position is responsible for supervising a team of Environmental Coordinators and Engineers, managing complex permitting and compliance requirements, and acting as a liaison with regulators, contractors, and local stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring strong regulatory knowledge, leadership and budgeting experience, and a proactive approach to environmental stewardship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in mining and environmental compliance, or 10+ years in a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state environmental regulations, including NEPA and RCRA.
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience, with a collaborative and solution-oriented approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with tools such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Microsoft Project, GoldSim, MonitoPro, or IsoMetrix is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Colorado-specific environmental permitting and regulatory frameworks is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental compliance programs, ensuring alignment with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Supervises the day-to-day internal audits and inspections of operations, ensuring strict compliance with company and regulatory requirements, providing recommendations and mitigate gaps in compliance
  • Drive continuous improvement in site environmental performance to reduce risk, maintain compliance, and uphold CC&V’s social license to operate.
  • Support execution of the CC&V business plan through effective management of environmental compliance activities.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Environmental Coordinators and Engineers.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive environmental sustainability plans for air, water, waste rock, and biodiversity.
  • Prepare and review environmental reports, permit applications, and regulatory filings.
  • Manage environmental projects, consultants, and contractors.
  • Lead environmental audits and gap assessments and implement corrective action plans.
  • Evaluate environmental incidents, lead investigations, and implement corrective actions
  • Communicate project status and emerging risks to site leadership and corporate stakeholders.
