About The Position

Nucor Towers & Structures Indiana is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Environmental Compliance Supervisor. The Environmental Compliance Supervisor will have a leadership role in the overall strategic direction of the division's environmental requirements. This role will safely and effectively one environmental coordinator for Nucor Towers & Structures Indiana. This position reports to the General Manager. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards, at all times.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma with 8 years’ relevant experience or 4-year degree in Engineering, Environmental or other related science
  • 5+ years of technical experience with proven leadership skills and abilities.
  • Title V air permitting experience.
  • Experience interfacing and serving as the company representative with local regulatory agencies, community leaders and legislators.

  • Ability to deal with complex EHS situations.
  • Environmental regulatory experience in air, water, and waste.
  • Project management experience
  • High knowledge base of state and federal environmental regulations and standards applicable to the steel making process; and gathering data for developing and submitting compliance reports required by applicable regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of the environmental team’s daily tasks.
  • Management of the plant’s various control devices.
  • Working with and building relationships across departments to ensure a mutual understanding of environmental compliance requirements.
  • Implementation and operation of environmental programs.
  • Lead teams in maximizing a division’s assets and profitability.
  • Create action plans for the development of team members.
  • Effectively managing and resolving conflict as needed.
  • Assist the Plant Manager as needed with day-to-day management of the environmental department.
  • Support production teams during outages and capital project upgrades.
  • Communicate with regulatory agencies and community leaders as necessary to submit environmental reporting, address deviations, facilitate agency inspections and address notices of non-compliance.
  • Interpret impacts to business from current and emerging environmental regulatory requirements at all levels including Federal, State, County, City, etc.
  • Identify environmental issues that require capital expenditure, assist in the preparation of funding requests, and lead the implementation of the chosen solution.
