About The Position

Intertek is seeking an Environmental Staff Scientist/Engineer/Geologist to join their Environmental team in Orlando, Florida. This role supports the Building and Construction business by overseeing Environmental projects in the Orlando Region. The position involves travel up to 15% of the time. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental or civil engineering from an accredited/ABET school (required).
• 1+ years of proven technical environmental consulting experience including site investigation and risk assessment (required).
• Must be detail-oriented, and a team player with excellent communication, analytical, organization, as well as time and budget management skills.
• Must be computer literate and able to operate most field/office equipment relating to one’s discipline.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Working knowledge of FDEP SOPs for field activities related to soil, groundwater, and surface water (required).
• Desire to excel at performing tasks within projects under CERCLA and RCRA, environmental due diligence projects including Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments following ASTM guidelines.
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
• Must be able to perform tasks in varying field/office conditions.
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record (required).
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training (required).

Nice To Haves

• Entry level knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems involved with remediation of environmental contamination.
• Proficient with performing and evaluation of engineering calculations involved in remedial planning preferred.
• EPA AHERA accredited Asbestos Inspector a plus.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) registration/certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform Environmental Site Assessments including ASTM Phase I, II, and III.
• Manage FDEP ATC Petroleum and Drycleaner Program projects and deliverables.
• Manage UST and LUST projects.
• Assist with soil gas and vapor intrusion investigations.
• Assist with Remedial Action efforts and Remedial Construction projects.
• Perform Engineering calculations.
• Prepare technical proposals and reports for clients.
• Communicate with subcontractors, team members, and regulators to keep projects aligned with approved project plans and schedule.
• Author technical reports and assist with proposals.
• Work within project budgets to build solid relationships with clients and team members.
