About The Position

The Environmental Specialist is responsible for coordinating and supporting environmental compliance activities within their assigned area while aligning with the organization’s goals, objectives, and vision. This position is based in Houston, TX. Pilot Water Solutions (“PWS”) is the most reliable name in water midstream. PWS is a full-service, full life cycle water midstream company with assets across the Permian, Eagle Ford, Rockies, Haynesville, and Appalachia. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Geology, Natural Resources, Occupational Safety, related field, or relevant experience.
  • Oil and gas operations experience
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Customer service skills with the ability to work with a variety of personalities and work styles.
  • Team-player with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and operational teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Able to adapt in a fast-paced environment where operational and regulatory priorities may change.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Proactive problem-solver with strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Professional, tactful, and discreet when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ethical with a strong sense of accountability, ownership, and pride in work performance.
  • Knowledge of, experience with, or ability to manage Facility Response Plans (FRPs), SPCC Plans, and related environmental compliance documentation.
  • Able to travel as needed; travel may be limited depending on operational demands.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with OCD, BLM, RRC, TCEQ, EPA, and applicable environmental regulations preferred.
  • Water Midstream experience.
  • Previous internship experience in environmental compliance, oil and gas operations, regulatory affairs, environmental consulting, remediation tracking, or related industry experience preferred.
  • Certifications in OSHA, HAZWOPER, Environmental Compliance, SPCC, or related environmental and safety programs preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports environmental compliance activities and initiatives within assigned operational areas.
  • Serves as a liaison between operations, regulatory agencies, environmental consultants, and management teams.
  • Maintains environmental records, remediation tracking logs, monitoring documentation, and project files.
  • Manages environmental filings including reportable spills, closure reports, Permit By Rule (PBR), SPCCs, and Tier II reporting.
  • Coordinates spill response tracking activities, remediation status updates, environmental project costs, vendor proposals, bids, and associated environmental metrics.
  • Assists with government agency notifications and communications with external environmental firms, as needed.
  • Schedules environmental inspections, vendor activities, compliance reviews, and project coordination meetings.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable environmental rules, regulations, permits, and company procedures.
  • Participates in environmental reviews, Desktop RSAs, ESG initiatives, and compliance improvement efforts.
  • Coordinates with approved environmental vendors and consultants for technical support and field services.
  • Provides regular internal updates regarding environmental compliance activities, spill response status, remediation tracking, and project progress.
  • Assists with annual Tier II reporting coordinated with external environmental firms.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with TCEQ, TXDOT, RRC, EPA, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Reviews, summarizes, and provides internal guidance regarding permit conditions and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides support and assistance to management and operations teams regarding required actions, project status, and potential compliance challenges.
  • Coordinates with other departments to collect and analyze information and data for regulatory reports and compliance tracking.
  • Keeps abreast of relevant local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and agency policies.
  • Designs and generates reports, presentations, tracking summaries, and correspondence as required.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Incumbents will be expected to follow other job-related duties outside of their normal responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor based on business needs.
