About The Position

Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Based in Houston, Texas, Saber Power offers deep subject matter expertise and uses an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. Saber serves clients locally, nationally, and abroad. Saber Power Services is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Environmental Compliance Specialist to provide environmental leadership and technical support across construction, civil, and electrical infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for helping ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations; identifying and managing environmental risks; supporting pre-construction and project planning activities; and promoting continuous improvement in environmental performance. The Environmental Compliance Specialist will serve as a trusted environmental resource for project teams, operations, subcontractors, and company leadership. This position will support projects throughout the project lifecycle, including proposal development, pre-construction, project execution, and closeout.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, professional training, and relevant environmental experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of environmental compliance experience, preferably supporting construction, civil, utility, energy, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience supporting environmental compliance activities during project planning, pre-construction, construction, or project execution.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting and compliance requirements involving air, water, waste, hazardous materials, chemicals, and transportation.
  • Working knowledge of applicable environmental agencies and regulations, including EPA requirements, TSCA, DOT requirements, and other relevant environmental standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reviewing or implementing SWPPPs and inspecting BMPs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems is preferred.
  • Experience supporting proposals, tenders, estimating, or pre-construction activities is preferred.
  • Professional environmental certifications are a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance requirements, and environmental management practices.
  • Ability to identify environmental risks and develop practical, effective mitigation strategies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical environmental leadership and support to Saber Power operations to promote regulatory compliance and continuous environmental improvement.
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local environmental regulations related to air quality, water, waste, chemicals, transportation, and other applicable environmental requirements.
  • Review project scopes during the proposal and pre-construction phases to identify environmental risks, constraints, permitting requirements, required surveys, and potential compliance obligations.
  • Serve as the primary environmental point of contact during the tender and pre-construction process.
  • Develop clear environmental risk profiles and compliance strategies for prospective projects.
  • Support the preparation of proposals and tender submissions by providing environmental requirements, risk assessments, schedules, cost considerations, and compliance strategies.
  • Collaborate with estimating, commercial, engineering, planning, safety, and project management teams to ensure environmental requirements are accurately incorporated into project budgets and schedules.
  • Identify environmental permitting and regulatory requirements, including applicable licenses, approvals, surveys, and environmental assessments.
  • Support environmental due diligence activities, including Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and review of applicable environmental impact documentation.
  • Review Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and evaluate whether Best Management Practices (BMPs) are properly installed and maintained in accordance with project requirements.
  • Conduct environmental site inspections and audits to evaluate compliance with permits, environmental plans, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
  • Identify environmental concerns and work with project teams to develop practical corrective actions and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide environmental guidance to project teams, field personnel, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of the company’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Promote environmental best practices throughout project planning and execution.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training, guidance, and awareness programs for employees and project teams.
  • Coach and influence personnel at all organizational levels to promote environmental responsibility and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain accurate environmental records, reports, permits, inspection documentation, and compliance data.
  • Support project handovers by ensuring environmental requirements, risks, permits, and compliance information are clearly documented and communicated.
  • Monitor changes to environmental laws and regulations and communicate potential impacts to company operations and projects.
  • Lead or support environmental incident investigations and assist with the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce environmental risk, improve compliance processes, enhance project quality, and strengthen environmental performance.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
