About The Position

The Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, Maine Board of Pesticides Control (BPC), has a current full-time vacancy for a Certification and Licensing Specialist based in Augusta. This position plays a key role in advancing the BPC's mission to protect public health, the environment, and Maine’s natural resources by promoting pesticide stewardship through education, outreach, and regulatory support.

Requirements

A six (6) year combination of education and/or experience in environmental, biological, physical science, or engineering which includes two (2) years of environmental experience.
Qualifying education must include at least 15 credit hours of science or engineering coursework from an accredited educational institution.

Responsibilities

Delivering high-quality training programs for certified pesticide applicators, licensees, and the public.
Assisting with preparing, updating, and maintaining educational materials, training manuals, and certification examinations to ensure content remains current and effective.
Developing and delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
Assisting with scheduling and proctoring certification and licensing examinations.
Promoting compliance with the Federal Worker Protection Standard by providing outreach and training to the regulated community.
Responding to inquiries from the public and regulated community and providing guidance on certification and licensing requirements and pesticide regulations.
Enhancing online continuing education opportunities tailored to meet the needs of a wide range of pesticide use sectors.
Reviewing and processing licensing applications and assisting with the issuance and renewal of licenses.
Performing other related duties in support of the BPC's certification and licensing program and serving as a resource to the public.
