Performs technical work directing activities concerning inspecting, sampling, testing, and evaluating in an environmental pollution control and/or permitting program. This role involves investigating complaints on environmental pollution matters, conducting surveys, performing field sampling, and testing to detect violations of applicable County and State laws. The specialist will operate field test equipment, record test results, determine the effect of pollution on plant and animal life, and assist in laboratory analyses. Responsibilities also include maintaining inspection records, preparing reports, and potentially serving violation notices or subpoenas. The position requires the ability to work effectively with others and may involve before, during, or after emergency/disaster response duties.
