About The Position

Columbus House, Inc. is hiring a part-time seasonal Environmental Services Worker to clean and maintain the Family Triage and occasionally provide custodial support at the main shelter at 586 Ella Grasso Blvd. The position also performs laundry service functions for four hours per day at that location. The seasonal position runs from November 16, 2026 to April 2027 and pays $19.00 per hour. There are two openings, with schedules of Sunday–Wednesday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m., or Thursday–Saturday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.

Requirements

• General physical ability commensurate with the duties and responsibilities, including the ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Punctual, reliable, trustworthy, hardworking, and respectful conduct toward staff and clients.
• Ability to follow directions and accept supervision.

Nice To Haves

• A valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain the grounds.
• Clean and maintain interior spaces, including kitchens, bathrooms, offices, dining areas, residential spaces, and common areas.
• Remove trash daily.
• Transport materials and supplies to the Family Triage as directed.
• Remove, transport, wash, and dry bed linens and other laundry associated with overflow shelter services.
• Perform laundry service functions at 586 Ella Grasso Blvd.
