The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for thorough cleaning of assigned areas, including furniture, tile, fixtures, windows, sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, showers, high and low dusting of TVs, lights, walls, mopping floors, elevators, stairs, cleaning door frames, ceiling vents, and vacuuming carpets. The role requires adherence to all organizational policies and procedures, observation of isolation procedures and infection prevention standards, and knowledge of correct chemicals for different pathogens. The technician will maintain EVS closets, carts, and equipment, report safety hazards or equipment needing repair, and maintain correct supply levels. Responsibilities also include replenishing paper, soap, and hand sanitizer, hanging cubicles/drapes, completing special projects, moving furniture and supplies safely, properly mixing and storing chemicals, using personal protective equipment, and using wet floor signs to block off work areas. The role involves making beds according to specific area needs, utilizing bed tracking phones/pagers, logging into and out of EPIC, ensuring dismissal rooms are ready, and using the Xenex UV Light robot where available. The technician will return soiled and clean mops to the department and adhere to regulations for handling, transport, and disposal of all waste types, including hazardous, infectious, sharps, confidential, recycling, and regular trash. DOT Certification is required for packaging and transporting regulated medical waste.
